Description:

Minneapolis College's Library Information Technology (LIT) Program will equip you with the practical and conceptual skills needed to work in highly automated libraries and information agencies. Whether you seek your A.A.S. Degree in order to become a paraprofessional or transfer to a 4-year college, or if you would like to earn a certificate, Minneapolis College’s LIT program will train you in the ethical, legal and professional frameworks for delivering library and information resources to communities. Both the degree and the certificates are offered in a fully online environment.

General Education Courses (15 Credits):

To complete the Library Information Technology A.A.S. degree students are required to successfully complete 15 credits of General Education coursework. This coursework must be selected from at least three of the MnTC Goal Areas. This requirement will be satisfied by taking the required MnTC coursework of ENGL 1110, a CMST course, and INFS 2600 which meets MnTC Goal Areas 5 and 8. Students will also satisfy other MnTC goal areas through their choice of the Research Methods course, and the required Science course. 

All students pursuing this award should work closely with their advisor to ensure proper selection of required program courses, if applicable program electives, required Minnesota Transfer Curriculum courses, and MnTC electives. You are expected to meet with your advisor on a regular basis to ensure courses are taken in an order that will lead to efficient and successful completion of the required coursework.
