This course focuses on introducing the Nursing student to the three identified domains of the individual, nursing, and health care. You will learn about concepts within each domain including: evidenced-based practice, ethics, interdisciplinary teams, informatics, communication, managing care, safety, individual-centered care, medication administration, nutrition, assessment, stress/coping, oxygenation, infection and caring interventions. Upon completion, students will be able to provide safe nursing care incorporating the concepts identified in this course. Must be taken A-F.
Prerequisites:
Admission to the Professional Nursing Program. Placement score into ENGL 1110 or completion of ENGL 0900.

Description:
This course is intended for the Licensed Practical Nurse returning to nursing education. You will learn to differentiate between appropriate practices of practical and professional nurses. This course focuses on introducing you to the three identified conceptual domains of the individual, nursing and health care. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to provide safe nursing care incorporating these concepts. You will engage in assessment, planning, implementation, and educational aspects of the care surrounding patients with selected problems.
