Description:  This course focuses on nursing care for health promotion and disease prevention and acquiring knowledge regarding caring for elderly with chronic variations in health. You will understand the role of the professional nurse and practice provision of care and health promotion of adults and elderly. You will understand and utilize the nursing process to facilitate critical thinking, therapeutic communication, and growth and development theory in a caring and culturally congruent environment. Must be taken A-F.
Prerequisites:  Admission to the Professional Nursing Program. Placement into ENGL 1110 or completion of ENGL 0900 or ENGA 0900 or ESOL 0051

Nursing Transitions (NPRO 1010)

Description:  This course focuses on health promotion and disease prevention while expanding the knowledge and skills of the LPN as they transition to the role of professional nurse. Emphasis is on understanding the role of the professional nurse and provision of health promotion for the adult and elderly. Applying the nursing process to facilitate critical thinking, therapeutic communication, and growth and development theory in a caring and culturally congruent environment. Must be taken A-F.
Prerequisites:  Admission to the Professional Nursing Program, Licensed Practical Nurse with unencumbered Minnesota license.

Wellness-Illness Concepts Across the Lifespan (NPRO 1100)

Description:  This course focuses on nursing care of clients with chronic variations in health and increasing knowledge of care of clients through pregnancy and childbirth. You will examine care of clients with acute variations in health, including children. You will apply the nursing process for care of the adult and geriatric populations with long-term variations in health. You will acquire knowledge regarding healthy pregnancy, childbirth, and care of infants. You will practice provision of care of adults and elderly. You will utilize the nursing process and evidence-based practice to support expanding knowledge of therapeutic communication, health promotion, and disease prevention. Must be taken A-F.
Prerequisites:  Admission to the Professional Nursing program. NPRO 1000 or NPRO 1010; ENGL 1110 or ENGA 1110

Description:  This course focuses on health assessment of clients for health promotion and disease prevention, and those clients with chronic and acute variations in health. You will implement the nursing process for comprehensive and focused physical assessments, and demonstrate and differentiate collaborative and culturally congruent care practices throughout the lifespan. You will utilize evidence-based practices for the implementation of comprehensive and focused health assessment. Must be taken A-F.
Prerequisites:  NPRO 1000 or NPRO 1010

Complex Health Concepts (NPRO 2000)

Description:  This course focuses on the nursing care of clients with end of life, chronic, and acute variations in health including those with lived mental health experience. You will expand concepts previously introduced, apply and examine collaborative and safe nursing care for patients, families, and promote the health of clients throughout the lifespan. You will practice provision of care of adults, elderly, infants, children, and pregnant clients. You will investigate and compare evidence-based practice to expand knowledge of care throughout the life span, including clients with lived mental health care experience including therapeutic communication, and interprofessional practice in the provision of safe and effective care. Must be taken A-F.

Description:  This course focuses on the nursing care of clients with complex variations in health. You will expand concepts previously introduced, evaluate and prioritize quality care practices and safe nursing care and judgement for patients, families, and promote the health of communities throughout the lifespan. You will practice provision of care of adults, elderly, and those with lived mental health experience. You will examine and prioritize evidence-based practice to support expanding knowledge of developmental factors, culturally congruent care, and legal aspects of care that promotes safe, outcomes-based care. Must be taken A-F.
