Description:  You will apply design principles and layout fundamentals to communicate solutions to various demographics. You will design with concern for Web dynamics such as format, browser, font and platform issues, as well as consider user-end monitor size and page control while adapting navigational strategies for optimal user engagement.
Prerequisites: 

Placement score into READ 0200 or ESOL 0052 or completion of READ 0100 or ESOL 0042 with faculty recommendation into ESOL 0052.


Co-requisites: 

GRPH 1130 or PHDI 1020. PHDI majors can substitute PHDI 1020 in place of GRPH 1130.

HTML/CSS Authoring 1 (WEBI 1611)

Description:  You will develop a basic understanding of HTML, Cascading Style Sheets, and JavaScript by authoring webpages and completing a website. Current Web tools and design issues will be surveyed. Objective will be to produce clean and fast HTML pages built and verified to World Wide Web Consortium standards. Instruction will include online readings and tutorials.

HTML/CSS Authoring 2 (WEBI 1622)

Description:  A follow-up to Authoring 1, this course will introduce you to cutting-edge issues concerning HTML and related technologies. XML, XHTML, site accessibility, and CSS2 will be covered. JavaScript is revisited. Web design for alternative devices (wireless, WebTV, aural browsers) will be discussed. You will author and troubleshoot webpages and complete at least one website.

Description:  This course uses industry standard code editing software, graphic applications and CSS frameworks that are associated with creating and managing professional web sites. You will design quality web sites while adhering to web standards.

Web Animation and Interactivity (WEBI 1811)

Description:  This advanced Web course provides a working knowledge of Adobe Flash, and other software that creates interactive animation and navigation. You will develop content for current desktop computer and smart device web browsers. You will also learn HTML 5, Action Scripting, and other scripts to deliver both audio and video via the web. You will work collaboratively as well as individually, to execute a series of creative projects taken from concept to completion. Your designs will be applied to various projects for professional portfolio development and delivery.

Description:  This course introduces the student to user experience (UX) design as it relates to digital artifacts, such as the design of websites for desktop systems and other digital devices. Description:  This advanced course examines the theory and application of Type in Motion, using lecture, demonstration, and collaborative studio work. Internship (WEBI 2644)

Description:  The web design/animation/interactive media internship is an opportunity for supervised work experience that provides an important practical knowledge as well as a useful link to the job market. You will obtain an internship site that supports your special areas of interest and provides opportunities to interact with professional in their working environment. The internship requires 120 hours of residency in a web or an interactive media department, or organization producing web sites or interactive media for the web, smart phones or other web devices. Other industry related companies may qualify pending approval by the internship coordinator.
