Description:  In this course, you will develop a knowledge of the Minnesota statutes relating to juveniles. You will explore the history and philosophies of the juvenile system, including theories related to causation and the effects of delinquency, as well as learn strategies for working with juveniles in the prevention of delinquency.

Introduction to Corrections (LAWE 1250)

Description:  This is an introductory course designed to provide you with an overview of the problems and ethical dilemmas that face America's correctional system. The institution of corrections is not only a study of our prison system; it is myriad complex interrelationships among many components and institutions of society. This course will uncover the factors that influence corrections, both those who work and administer in corrections and the forces outside of the corrections industry.

Criminal Justice Service-Learning Internship (LAWE 2251)

Internship/Practicum Credits:  1 -3 Variable Credit
Description:  Service learning in Law Enforcement encourages the student to develop an appreciation for individual rights and diversity within the community. Learning occurs in a variety of settings, including community-based organizations, law enforcement community-oriented policing units and criminal justice service organizations. Students provide a variety of services while learning through faculty-facilitated experiences.
