Description:
This course covers electrically assisted bicycles and their additional specific components. You will become familiar with electric bicycle technologies, including the current designs. You will have hands on experiences in riding and repairing specific components, while drawing on the knowledge you have gained in all aspects of bicycle repair.
Topical Outline:
1. History and usage of electric bicycles.
2. Electric bicycle defined classes.
3. Motor and Battery types and configurations.
4. Basic electrical circuit knowledge
5. Special safety concerns when working with electric bicycles
6. Troubleshooting special electric bicycle issues.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Describe federally defined e-bike classes.
2. Describe different e-bike motor and battery configurations and their differentiation.
3. Use factory diagnostic tools to update, configure, and diagnose e-bike issues.
4. Assemble, configure and deliver a ready-to-ride Electric Bicycle.
