Description: This course focuses on providing advanced multilingual students whose native language is not English with the ability to understand and use aspects of grammar, style and organization that cause unique problems for non-native English speakers and writers. You will learn a variety of writing, listening, and speaking skills necessary to succeed in entry-level college writing and communications courses. This course must be taken Pass/No Credit.

1. The multi-step writing process
2. The organization and discourse structure of written texts and formal presentations
3. Advanced English grammar and citation methods
4. The use of technology in the writing process
5. Listening and Speaking

Learning Outcomes:
1. Organize, write, and revise 3-4 page typed essays using standard technical tools
2. Demonstrate sufficient proficiency in advanced English grammar and mechanics
3. Summarize, paraphrase, and cite written and audio content
4. Assess and reflect on personal communication development; formulate improvement plan
5. Evaluate the connections between audience, purpose, and context
6. Plan, prepare, and deliver comprehensible academic presentations

Prerequisites:  Placement into ESOL 0051 or completion of ESOL 0041
