Description:
You will transfer the knowledge and skills acquired in coursework to the clinical setting in this first of two required practica. You will demonstrate competence in the Transdisciplinary Foundations of Practice Dimensions (12 core functions) of a counselor. The experience may take place in a variety of agencies. You will collaborate with faculty on internship planning with the intent of meeting your individualized career goals. The two practica must total 880 hours and one must be at least 440 hours. You will also attend biweekly two-hour group classroom sessions as part of practicum supervision. Must be taken Pass/Fail.

1. Practicum supervision in approved site to satisfy licensure requirement
2. 12 Core Functions
3. Ethical Standards of alcohol and drug counselor
4. Preparation for testing and employment
Learning Outcomes:
1. Apply and Demonstrate the knowledge and skills of as many of the 12 core functions of an addiction counselor available at site
2. Apply and demonstrate ethical standards
