Description: This course examines the specific storytelling techniques for short narrative scripts using the three-act structure paradigm. You will develop, draft, rewrite and polish two short scripts demonstrating your ability to create thought-provoking stories with exciting characters, a stimulating mood and an inspiring dialogue. Must be taken A - F.

1. Basic characteristics of the short fictional Screenplay
2. Short vs. longer formats
3. Story genres and templates
4. Ideation, Characterization and Treatment
5. The Breakdown
6. Rewriting the final draft

Learning Outcomes:
1. Demonstrate a broad understanding of the short narrative screenwriting techniques
2. Create believable characters with strong drives, conflicts and obstacles within the confines in a short screenplay
3. Master the specific structural requirements of a short screenplay
4. Write four to six-page narrative scripts with a particular emphasis on visuals
