Advanced Mill and Introduction to CNC (MTTC 1505)

Description: This course covers manual milling, safe operating practices, and tool selection. You will learn about topics such as cutting tools, vertical mill nomenclature, machining operations, cutting speeds and feeds, work holding and set-up procedures. You will produce parts to show your understanding of the manual mill operation. When advancing through the projects you will be introduced to Conversational Milling controlled machines.

Topical Outline:
1. Vertical Milling setup and operation
2. Sharpening of fly cutter, drills, and endmills
3. Heat treat of materials
4. Power tapping
5. Conversational programming

Learning Outcomes:
1. Identify machine nomenclature and demonstrate safety practices
2. Demonstrate proper machine setups
3. Create and produce parts to match blueprint specifications
4. Inspect finished projects and compare to the blueprint specifications

Prerequisites:  MTTC 1015, MTTC 1100, MTTC 1105, and MTTC 1110
Co-requisites:  MTTC 1500, MTTC 1515, and MTTC 2020
