Description:
Applications of Herbal Medicine 2 is the capstone course of the Herbal Studies certificate program. Building off skills learned in
HERB 1105, you will develop effective strategies in supporting the cardiovascular system as well as identifying herbs that support the balance and cleansing action of the body's liver, kidney and skin functions. The lab portion will consist of in-class exercises and field trips to help you gain experience using skills learned throughout the program.

1. Herbal safety and dosing
2. Herbs for Cardiovascular Health
3. Herbs to promote optimal functioning of the liver and kidneys
4. Herbs to support skin health
5. Health assessment activities and field experience
Learning Outcomes:
1. Develop herbal treatment strategies that support cardiovascular, liver, kidney and skin health and assess when these treatments are needed.
2. Determine how to choose specific herbs for individuals that support different processes in the body to support the cardiovascular system, liver, kidneys and skin.
3. Complete a journal where they reflect about their field experience.
4. Develop treatment strategies that are both safe and effective at promoting health through understanding dosage, safety of herbs, and herb/drug interactions.
