User Experience - UX Design (WEBI 2020)

Description: This course will cover the fundamentals of the UX discipline, including information architecture, user research and testing, web analytics, content strategy, accessibility, user-centered design, prototyping, and design of user interfaces. You will gain practice in these areas through participatory group projects and produce industry-standard UX artifacts.

Topical Outline:
1. Gain experience through hands-on activities in the four stages of UX-centered design: Behavior, Strategy, Usability and Validation.
2. Understand how UX is practiced in the field, from Agile or “lean” processes, to more complex planning, testing and documentation.
3. Create portfolio-quality UX documentation that demonstrates understanding of current trends and research.
4. Explore prototyping tools and create an interactive prototype for a web or mobile application.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Demonstrate understanding and knowledge of the major theories and practices within the User Experience field.
2. Demonstrate competence in experiential UX activities including research, user testing, group facilitation and participation.
3. Produce industry-standard UX documentation in various formats.
4. Produce a complete interactive prototype for a website or application.

Prerequisites:  WEBI 1416, WEBI 1611, and GRPH 1130; or Instructor Approval
