Description: This course is an exploration of the complexity of the family, intimacy, and sexuality in a changing America. The course explores how families can provide support and strength for individuals; you will also investigate societal threats to family cohesion and strength.

3. Challenges to relationships
4. Work and family life
5. The social construction of love and intimacy
6. Parenting

Learning Outcomes:
1. Understand the sociological perspective and methods as it relates to family
2. Utilize sociological concepts to better understand their own experiences and family challenges
3. Apply the sociological perspective and methods to their understanding of family

Prerequisites:  Placement into READ 0200 or ESOL 0052 or completion of READ 0100 or ESOL 0042
