Description:
This course is an expansion and refinement of the technical skills, elements and principles of art design and the ideas you developed in Ceramics 1. Using three dimensional problem-solving you will explore the functional and narrative qualities of ceramics. Firing and glazing techniques will be discussed and practiced in detail. You will research both historical and contemporary ceramics through electronic imagery, local galleries and museums. By merging your personal insight and narrative with global awareness you will articulate individual responses to the state or conditions of universal existence.

1. Expansion of wheel throwing and hand building techniques
2. Augmentation of the elements and principles of good art design
3. Intensify the critical analysis of ideas
4. Glaze formulation
5. Research contemporary and historical ceramic art
