Description:
This course is an investigation of three-dimensional spatial problem solving through basic clay forming techniques used in hand-building and wheel throwing methods. You will be introduced to the formal qualities of good art design which is used in the expression of ideas. By merging your personal insight and narrative with global awareness you will articulate individual responses to the state or conditions of universal existence. You will research both historical and contemporary ceramics through electronic imagery, local galleries and museums.

1. Introduction to basic clay forming skills
2. Examine and articulate individual responses to ideas
3. Critical analysis of art works as expressions within an historical or social context
4. Research contemporary and historical ceramic art
