Description: In this course, you will learn how to design a personal, individualized studio for professional work in music or sound design as studied in the Sound Arts program. Topics include relating room design to the end-product envisioned, cost planning, acoustic treatment and control, AC and electronic interface design and ergonomics. After completing the course, you will have an actual design plan for your specific real or envisioned studio space.

1. 1. Outline and analyze theoretical and practical issues in the important aspects of small-room acoustics and sound studio design
2. 2. Synthesize material from previous courses with this one, in the service of designing a realistic personal studio space, based on the student’s own interests and direction
3. 3. Relate purpose to design, through study of existing representative industry facilities
4. 4. Aurally discriminate between different broad room acoustics phenomena, and suggest ways to control them, both with permanent treatment, and situationally in the field
