Description: This is an advanced course focusing on the operation of the digital desktop studio as a tool for practical application of the theories and concepts learned up to this point in the Sound Arts program. Recording and conversion will be reviewed prior to the exploration of advanced techniques in synthesis, sampling, editing, signal processing and mixing, both within the nonlinear environment and in the larger digital studio. Data transfer in several formats will be considered. You will become familiar with a variety of hardware and software and will complete a final project in a chosen area.

1. 1. Integrate and adapt material from previous courses to be successful in a professional-level project studio, both technically and behaviorally
2. 2. Assess technical problems in-context, apply efficient troubleshooting logic, and adapt appropriately
3. 3. Discriminate between the various tools and techniques available to them, to make technically-informed decisions that support the artwork at-hand
4. 4. Apply the above topics to create a variety sound works, according to specific requirements, as outlined in the SNDA 2340 course
5. 5. Create a medium-length, but substantial, work in a workstation environment, using the full range of tools (recording, editing, processing, mixing, automation, MIDI/synthesis)
