Description:  In this course, the student will aquire the tools to achieve personal financial responsibility and well-being. These tools include, for example, developing financial goals and plans, preparing and analyzing financial statements, undertaking time value of money calculations, determining income tax liabilities, using sound cash and credit management principles, making good auto and housing decisions, assessing insurance needs, investing, and retirement planning.
Prerequisites:  Placement into READ 0200 or ESOL 0052 or completion of READ 0100 or ESOL 0042

Foundations of Economics (ECON 1200)

Description:  This introductory course empowers you to make sense of your economic world. Through class discussion, group projects, or writing assignments, you will refine economic life skills and explore socioeconomic issues. You will discover the secrets of consumer psychology, the mechanics of financial decisions and the art of budgeting for life. You will use simple but powerful tools to analyze how markets work, when they work well and when they fail. You will examine the United States economy, financial markets, government policies and international relations.

Principles of Macroeconomics (ECON 2000)

Description:  In this course, you will examine economic problems by focusing on national income, employment, inflation, the banking system, monetary and fiscal policy, international economics and growth.
Prerequisites:  Placement into READ 0200 or ESOL 0052 or completion of READ 0100 or ESOL 0042. It is highly recommended that students also complete ADED 0060.

Principles of Microeconomics (ECON 2200)

Description:  In this course, you will examine the classic economic problem of scarcity. You will focus on demand, supply, prices, elasticity, the firm and its costs, market structure and government.
Prerequisites:  Placement into READ 0200 or ESOL 0052 or completion of READ 0100 or ESOL 0042. It is highly recommended that students also complete ADED 0060.
