Self-Care and Wellness for Helping Professionals (HSER 1115)

Description: This course covers theories and practical exercises related to wellness. You will learn how to enhance your own wellness and promote wellness with others. The experiential nature of the course will include textbook readings, an optional online wellness assessment, buddy support dyads, weekly journals and a wellness promotion project, all of which will involve work in and outside of the classroom. Must be taken A-F.

1. 1. Define and distinguish wellness concepts from more traditional characterizations of health
2. 2. Utilize a wellness inventory to assess personal wellness and define growth goals
3. 3. Understand processes of visualizations, affirmations and mindfulness to support goal realization
4. 4. Study and personally apply a specific diet management program for own self development

Prerequisites: 

HSER 1001 or Instructor approval.
