Description:
The A.A. with emphasis in Communication Studies program is designed to certify you have completed the requirements through the sophomore level for a Baccalaureate degree in Communication at most four-year institutions. Communication Studies majors demonstrate effectiveness in their public speaking, intercultural, interpersonal and small group communication skills with the goal to develop relevant and practical communication abilities in personal and professional contexts.

Students need to complete the entire 40-credit Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) as well as elective credits to reach 60 credits for the A.A. with an Emphasis in Communication Studies. All students pursuing this degree should work closely with their advisor to select the required courses for the emphasis, required MnTC courses for the 40-credit Minnesota Transfer Curriculum and their MnTC electives.
* MnTC Goal Area 3: Students must complete a minimum of two courses in two different disciplines, one course must have a traditional lab and the other course must have a traditional lab-or-lab-like experience from MnTC Goal Area 3.
**To complete the A.A. with an Emphasis in Communication Studies, students must complete at least three courses from three different disciplines in MnTC Goal Areas 5 and 6.
