Topics in Library and Information Technology (LIBT 1415)

Description: This course provides an opportunity to study a variety of timely topics in library and information technology. Possible areas of study include topics such as: free speech and censorship, compassionate customer service, community engagement, critical self reflection, trends in communication, and changes in relevant technologies, such as artificial intelligence.

Topical Outline:
1. Relevant issues and topics within the focused area of study.
2. Implications of select issues and topics for library and information technology.
3. Short term and long term impacts of select issues and topics on libraries and information agencies.
4. Strategies for responding to the issues and topics within the focused area of study.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Define relevant issues and topics within the focused area of study.
2. Discuss implications of the issues and topics examined.
3. Analyze short term and long term impacts of select issues and topics.
4. Formulate original ideas for how to respond on a personal level to the issues and topics presented within the focused area of study.

Prerequisites:  Placement into ENGL 1110 or completion of ENGL 0900 or ENGA 0900 or ESOL 0051 or Instructor Approval
