Description:
You will learn the theory of refrigeration involving temperature/pressure relationship, heat transfer, sensible and latent heat, and laws of thermal dynamics. The mechanical refrigeration cycle (including compressors, metering devices, evaporators, and condensers) will be covered, along with refrigeration pressure controls and heat pump theory. Must be taken A-F.
Topical Outline:
1. Pressure/Temperature relationship
2. Mechanical Refrigeration components
3. Manifold Gauge Utilization
4. Refrigeration Pressure Controls
5. Basic Heat Pump Systems
Learning Outcomes:
1. Interpret pressure/temperature relationship in a sealed refrigeration system
2. Interpret mechanical components in a sealed refrigeration system
3. Properly use manifold gauge sets to diagnose sealed refrigeration systems
4. Interpret refrigeration pressure controls
5. Interpret basic heat pump systems
