The Aircraft Maintenance Technician program accepts a cohort of 25 new students twice per year in the Fall and Spring Semester. Students must be admitted to the Aircraft Maintenance Technician program before they can enroll in any courses with an ACMT subject.
Description:
Minneapolis College’s Aircraft Maintenance Technician program will prepare you to perform extensive maintenance, repair work and detailed inspections on all types of aircraft while meeting Federal Aviation Administration standards. You will learn to service, repair, and overhaul aircraft systems, structures and engines to ensure proper operation and safety. In addition, you will learn how to access information on specifications, diagnostics and troubleshooting techniques. Given the importance of teamwork in the aviation environment, you will be instructed on team-building and communication techniques. You will also learn valuable decision-making and deductive-reasoning skills.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS: FIRST SEMESTER:
The Aircraft Maintenance Technician Diploma requires students to complete 89 program credits and 9 credits of MnTC coursework selected from at least three of the 10 MnTC Goal Areas. Students should plan to complete the MnTC General Education coursework during summer terms or prior to beginning the program. Students on the waiting list should plan to complete as many of the general education courses as possible prior to starting the program.

General Education Courses (9 credits)
To complete the Aircraft Maintenance Technician Diploma, students are required to successfully complete 9 credits of MnTC coursework selected from at least three of the 10 MnTC Goal Areas.
Students should plan to complete the MnTC coursework during summer terms or prior to beginning the program. Students on the waiting list should plan to complete as many of the general education courses as possible prior to starting the program.
All students pursuing this award should work closely with their advisor to ensure proper selection of required program courses, if applicable program electives, required Minnesota Transfer Curriculum courses, and MnTC electives. You are expected to meet with your advisor on a regular basis to ensure courses are taken in an order that will lead to efficient and successful completion of the required coursework.
