Studio Foundations (PHMO 1070)

Description: This course introduces students to the practical duties and responsibilities of a professional assistant working in the photography and video industry. You will get hands on experience with many different lighting and camera systems and the grip tools used in still photography and motion capture. You will also be exposed to the expectations and demands of working as a professional assisting through field trips, guest speakers and real-life opportunities to assist program staff and advanced students working as photographers.

3. Flash Lighting Systems
4. Assistant Work Experience
5. Professional Organization Attendance
6. Camera Systems

1. Identify studio grip gear
2. Demonstrate studio safety
3. Set up studio continuous and flash lighting
4. Engage with professional organizations for photography and video to establish professional network
5. Effectively communicate with co-workers to complete tasks and advance the project

Prerequisites:  Placement into READ 0200 or ESOL 0052 or completion of READ 0100 or ESOL 0042. PHMO Instructor Approval for Non-PHMO Majors
