Description:

The Environmental Science AS degree offers students the opportunity to complete an Associate of Science degree with course credits intended to transfer to the designated bachelor's degree programs.  Students will receive a broad training in foundational life science courses as well as course work in physical, analytical, and social sciences. Students will relate these principles and the results of hypothesis driven field and laboratory experiments to the natural environment. After completing the degree, students will be prepared to enter the workforce at a technician level or transfer to earn a BS and seek employment as a scientist, resource manager, or educator.

To complete the Environmental Science A.S. degree, students must complete a minimum of 6-8 credits of college level mathematics coursework. *Students planning to transfer to Metropolitan State’s Environmental Science B.S. degree should take MATH 1110 or MATH 1119. General Education: To complete the A.S. degree in Environmental Science, students are required to successfully complete coursework from six of the 10 goal areas of the MnTC. Students must complete MnTC Goal Area 1 (ENGA or ENGL 1110, ENGL 1111 and a CMST course, and three credits from Goal Areas 7, 8, 9 or 10.
