Internship for Community Healthcare Workers (HSER 2006)

Description:
This internship course is for students who have completed CMHW and
CMHW 1016. You may register for this internship ONLY if you have completed
CMHW 1001 and
CMHW 1016. Hours and assignments will be identical to but prorated from
HSER 2004. Please see the course description for
HSER 2004. This is a capstone off-campus, experiential-learning component for the Pre-Social Work program. You will spend 120 hours at a social services internship site you selected during
HSER 2003. You will be supervised by experienced professionals in the field and evaluated by faculty advisors from the HSER program. As an intern, you will apply and enhance your knowledge and skills learned in the program. Must be taken A-F.
Topical Outline:
1. 240 hours of field work supervised by agency professional and Minneapolis College Faculty
Learning Outcomes:
1. Demonstrate competence in at least 2 of the HSER skill clusters including: Individual Counseling: Group Skills: Case management; and Systems Change
2. Preparation for employment in field
Prerequisites:
HSER 2003 passed with a grade of "C" (2.0) or above;
CMHW 1001 and
CMHW 1016, and Instructor Permission. Please contact the instructor before registration.
