Using Personality Types in Human Services (HSER 1111)

Description: This course provides theory and practice using a variety of orientations to personality style. You will use personality style theory to look at what your own style might be, your strengths and weaknesses, and possible applications of each theory in human services work. You will learn to see the power in recognizing diversity among personality styles.

Topical Outline:
1. Historical overview of Developmental of Personality Theory
2. Study of four Personality Theories
3. Application of each theory for each student
4. Student Presentation of their personalities

Learning Outcomes:
1. Discuss basic concepts of each personality theory
2. Identify their own personal application of each theory
3. Describe processes for responding to styles different than their own in a human services setting

Prerequisites:  HSER 1001 or Instructor Approval
