Description:
This course will cover a variety of nonmetallic materials such as plastic, fiberglass, honeycomb and composite constructions. You will learn to identify, evaluate and repair defects of nonmetallic materials. This course must be taken A-F.
Topical Outline:
1. Acceptable and non-acceptable wood defects
2. Acceptable condition of aircraft fabrics
3. Damage evaluation of composites
Learning Outcomes:
1. Understand wood structures and fabric coverings.
2. Identify different types of composite materials.
3. Inspect composite material for delamination, voids, dents or cracks.
4. Repair composite panels and flight controls per manufacturing specifications.
