Description: This course is designed to develop the mind and body through the ancient discipline of yoga. You will explore the field of yoga research. You will engage in physical and mental practices such as beginning asanas (postures), breathing techniques, and meditation.

Topical Outline:
1. Yogic practices such as: physical postures for beginners, Sun salutations, Breathing techniques for beginners, Mindfulness and Meditation practices for beginners, and yoga ethics (yamas and niyamas)
2. Yoga Research

Learning Outcomes:
1. Demonstrate proper performance of physical skills by performing a sun salutation unguided.
2. Evaluate yoga research as it applies to one's own wellness and identify yogic practices to balance one’s health now and gain resiliency for the future.
3. Demonstrate proper performance of physical skills and body mechanics by participating in yogic practices.
