Description:
This course is an introduction to the organization, analysis, and use of health information. You will be introduced to the patient record in acute, outpatient, inpatient, and alternate care settings including electronic health record standards and regulations. Must be taken A-F.

2. AHIMA ethics
3. Health care facilities
4. Data definitions, vocabularies, terminologies, and dictionaries
5. Data storage and retrieval
Learning Outcomes:
1. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of various health care delivery systems
2. Describe the differences in the electronic and non-electronic health records, including the types of patient records in various health care settings
3. Provide an overview of indexes, registers and health data collection
4. Apply organization-wide health record documentation guidelines
5. Maintain the accuracy and completeness of the patient record as defined by organizational policy and external regulations and standards
6. Verify timeliness, completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness of data and data sources for patient care, management, billing reports, registries, and/or databases
