Medical Office Procedures (MEDS 1275)

Description: This course will prepare you to perform the variety of tasks needed to work in a medical setting. You will learn the proper procedures for customer service and filing and handling correspondence. You will also be introduced to legal and ethical responsibilities. Must be taken A-F.

2. HIPAA responsibilities
3. Customer services, including conflict resolution
4. Diversity in the workplace
5. Medical record management
6. Written and verbal communication

Learning Outcomes:
1. Prepare for a job as a Medical Office Professional
2. Use different medical office filing systems
3. Develop effective written, and verbal communication skills
4. Recognize nonverbal communication
5. Discuss ways to increase understanding of individual and group differences (e.g. race, gender and class)

Prerequisites:  Placement into READ 0200 or ESOL 0052 or completion of READ 0100 or ESOL 0042
