Description:
This course will cover manual turning theory, safe operating practices, and tool selection. You will learn about lathe topics ranging from lathe nomenclature, turning operations, cutting speeds and feeds, and work holding setups. You will also learn other procedures including but not limited to, threading, and form cutting processes. You will produce parts to demonstrate comprehension of setup, operation, and inspection per print. In addition, you will be introduced to CNC Lathe operation and nomenclature.

1. Identify machine nomenclature and demonstrate safety practices

3. Analyze and distinguish various thread forms, tapers, and form cutting applications
4. Create and produce parts to match blueprint specifications
5. Inspect finished projects and compare to the blueprint specifications
