Description:
This course is the final capstone sound project. You will demonstrate your ability to conceive, plan, produce, and present a major artwork in sound, of your own design. You will connect the fundamental principles taught throughout the program to specific tools and techniques of your choice. You will also have the opportunity to share your work in-progress with the class, in a seminar format. The course will also expand on advanced topics, and you will be introduced to emerging paradigms and cutting-edge technology in the field.
Topical Outline:
1. Project planning and management
2. Approaching and tending-to the creative process
3. Advanced tools and techniques for sound capture/creation, processing, and mixing
4. The role of the producer and managing live recording sessions
5. Introduction to mastering
6. Delivering and archiving the finished artwork
Learning Outcomes:
1. Use the shared experience of peers, instructors, and professionals in a seminar-type atmosphere
2. Synthesize their experiences from previous courses and outside experience to create a significant artwork in sound
3. Discover how advanced concepts in sound production build on the fundamental principles from previous courses
4. Produce a significant work of their own design and methods, overseeing all aspects of the process
5. Deliver, present, document, and archive their work appropriately
