Cyber Security Capstone (ITEC 2995)

Description: This course builds on skills learned in the cyber security degree program to provide you with the technical, operational, and professional skills required in cyber security. You will work on projects to design, implement, test, operate, and maintain secure systems. You will develop your understanding of risks, threats, and vulnerabilities, and be able to identify, implement, and verify appropriate controls and strategies. You will develop professional skills such as collaboration, communication, creating documentation and presenting. The course will emphasize professionalism and ethics in the workplace and provide strategies for keeping necessary skills up to date. Must be taken A-F.

1. Professionalism and Ethics
2. Risk assessment
3. Technical security
4. Secure network and system planning, design, implementation, testing, and management
5. Security operations, monitoring, and investigations

Learning Outcomes:
1. Work in teams and individually to create professional reports, documentation and presentations
2. Understand the concepts of assets, risks, threats, and vulnerabilities; be able to perform a risk assessment and propose appropriate controls for risks identified
3. Understand concepts and mechanisms of common technical security vulnerabilities and threats
4. Plan, design, implement, test, and manage secure systems
5. Develop understanding of security operations, monitoring, and management
