Description:
This course introduces you to oral radiology, as well as the preclinical application of radiographic techniques. This course will focus on key landmarks, principles of radiation, radiation health and safety, radiographic techniques using both the parallel and bisecting-angle techniques, mounting radiographs, and radiograph evaluation. You will begin to practice on skulls. Must be taken A-F.

1. Dental radiographic history
2. Facial landmarks related to taking radiographs
3. Principles of radiation and radiation health and safety
4. Radiographic techniques using the parallel and bisecting angle techniques
5. Radiograph mounting and evaluation of each exposure
6. Radiographs on skulls
Learning Outcomes:
1. Identify components of x-ray production
2. Identify the principals of radiation health and safety
3. Identify the facial landmarks and use appropriate radiographic technique
4. Demonstrate mounting and evaluating radiographs
5. Demonstrate the productions of diagnostic radiographs on skulls
