Fitness Intensity Training (PHED 1180)

Description: This advanced course is designed for the moderately to vigorously physically active student. You will participate in strength training, flexibility, endurance, and intense interval activities, as well as assess your level of physical fitness. Must be taken A-F.

Topical Outline:
1. Wellness concept and the role physical activity plays in fitness and overall well-being
2. Fundamentals of strength training
3. Fundamentals of cardiovascular training
4. Orientation to equipment and programs to achieve fitness
5. Safety considerations for all ages and abilities

Learning Outcomes:
1. Demonstrate the importance of physical fitness through training
2. Exhibit fundamental training techniques in strength and cardiovascular training
3. Develop increased muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness as exhibited in fitness assessments
4. Participate safely at appropriate levels of intensity and with proper technique
