Description:
This course develops a standard base of commonly used Greek and Latin stem words, prefixes and suffixes from which a working technical vocabulary can be constructed for those in nursing, natural sciences, pre-professional fields and other allied health fields.
Topical Outline:
1. Understand the meaning of medical words and phrases commonly used in the medical field
2. Understand anatomical, diagnostic, surgical and treatment terms according to body systems
Learning Outcomes:
1. Apply medical terms as it relates to each body system
2. Demonstrate an understanding of the technical vocabulary of both normal and disease processes
