Advanced GTAW (WELD 2650)

Description: In this course, you will perform gas tungsten arc welding on a variety of materials. You will utilize GTAW to fabricate projects to blueprint specification and perform root pass welds on pipe. Must be taken A-F.

Topical Outline:
1. Weld steel, stainless steel and aluminum
2. Fabricate projects using sheet and tube/pipe using GTAW to blueprint specifications
3. Equipment setup and troubleshooting
4. Root pass welds on 6" SCH 40 steel pipe in the 2-G, 5-G and 6-G positions

Learning Outcomes:
1. Demonstrate proper welding technique using GTAW on steel, stainless steel and aluminum
2. Evaluate and test GTAW welds to industry standards
3. Fabricate projects to blueprint specifications
4. Evaluate projects to blueprint specifications
5. Demonstrate setup and troubleshooting of GTAW power source and equipment
6. Demonstrate proper welding technique with root passes in 6" SCH 40 steel pipe in the 2-G, 5-G and 6-G positions

Prerequisites:  WELD 1150, WELD 1400, and WELD 1450
