Description:
This course offers an introduction to geographic facts, theories and methods as they relate to humans and their occupation of the Earth. It uses a general systems perspective and a thematic approach to understand where, why and how humans live. Various themes covered are the human-Earth relationship, population, migration, cultural systems, language, religion, social customs, social systems,development, politics, urbanization, agriculture, industrialization and natural resource use.

1. Apply vocabulary, methods and theories used by Geographers and other Social Scientists to explain Human Spatial Patterns
2. Identify the Spatial Patterns of Human Activities, and the Interrelatedness of the Local with the Global
3. Know Facts, Place Names, and Case Studies that Illustrate Concepts and Theories used by Social Scientists
4. Explain how their own Socio-Cultural Background affects their perspective of other groups of people
