Total Credits: 5
Lecture Credits: 4
Lab Credits: 1

Description: This course covers the basics of D.C. circuits, Ohm's Law, and multi-meters and their use. You will learn to maintain, install, and remove both the lead-acid and ni-cad batteries used in current aircraft. Must be taken A-F.

Topical Outline:
1. DC (direct current) theory
2. Voltage, current and resistance relationships
3. Interpreting aircraft electrical circuit diagrams
4. Calculate a measure electrical power
5. Solid state devices and logic functions
6. Aircraft battery and servicing

Learning Outcomes:
1. Construct series and parallel D.C. circuits
2. Compute and measure resistance, current, voltage drop and power in D. C. circuits
3. Determine current flow, voltage and resistance in schematics and circuit diagrams
4. Troubleshoot electrical circuit problems
5. Trace aircraft electrical circuit diagrams
6. Clean, service and charge an aircraft battery

Prerequisites:  Admission to Aircraft Maintenance Program
