Step Aerobics (PHED 1157)

Description: This course emphasizes cardiovascular and muscle conditioning through the use of the bench step, hand weights and exercise bands. Fitness assessment is included in this course. Must be taken Pass/Fail.

Topical Outline:
1. Physiological benefits to cardiovascular fitness and the role it plays in the Wellness concept
2. Exercise safety and technique
3. Participation in a variety of strength, cardiovascular programs
4. Exercise programs and equipment that can continue activity as a lifetime pursuit

Learning Outcomes:
1. Develop knowledge and understanding of the body systems and the role cardiovascular fitness plays in overall health and Wellness
2. Participate in cardiovascular and strength activities at an appropriate level
3. Examine programs and other supports that can assist in the development of aerobic activity as a lifetime pursuit
4. Exhibit proper technique when participating in activity and more than one program to attain fitness goals
