Description: This course is an introduction to the image capture process and digital workflow using digital SLR cameras. You will capture JPEG and RAW image files as you learn how to navigate camera menus, calculate exposure, control white balance, depth of field, subject motion, focal length and use basic photographic compositional techniques. You will develop a practical photographic vocabulary and be introduced to career opportunities within the professional photography field.

1. 1. Demonstrate technical proficiency with a digital SLR camera
2. 2. Apply white balance (WB) presets and create custom WB settings
3. 3. Demonstrate depth of field (DOF) techniques
4. 4. Demonstrate equivalent and bracketing exposure techniques
5. 5. Choose appropriate focal length for subject matter
6. 6. Produce a series of photographs from different topics for portfolio presentation

Prerequisites: 

Placement score into READ 0200 or placement score into ESOL 0052 or completion of READ 0100 or ESOL 0042. PHDI Instructor approval for Non-PHDI Majors.
