Applications of Herbal Medicine (HERB 1240)

Description: In this course, you will learn how herbal medicine can support health in specific life stages and across sex differences. You will discuss modern health concerns, focusing on traditional and contemporary herbal treatments that positively affect health throughout life. Through lectures, case studies and research, you will identify effective strategies for using herbs safely as well as how to change dosages for the age of the individual. You will study how herbal medicine works on organs systems in the body, including the respiratory, digestive, cardiovascular and reproductive systems. Must be taken A-F.

2. 2. Develop treatment strategies with herbs with a holistic approach
3. 3. Identify herbs specifically used for either women or men
4. 4. Utilize both traditional and current research to determine proper herb usage

Prerequisites: 

Placement score into READ 1300 or completion of READ 0200 or ESOL 0052.
