Ignition Systems (ACMT 2180)

Description: This course covers ignition systems on reciprocating and turbine power plants. Attention is given to the requirements, design, and operation of magnetos and capacitor discharge ignition. Experience is provided in inspection, timing, repair and troubleshooting of the systems. Must be taken A-F.

1. Inspect, check, service, troubleshoot and repair a lubrication system
2. Powerplant engine ignition systems

Learning Outcomes:
1. Disassemble, inspect and reassemble magnetos
2. Inspect, check, service, troubleshoot and repair an ignition system
3. Use a high-tension lead tester
4. Clean, gap and test spark plugs

Prerequisites:  ACMT 1000, ACMT 1100, ACMT 1200, ACMT 1300 and ACMT 1400 or Admission to the Program with Course Equivalencies from another Approved FAR 147 School or Admission to the Program through FAA Approval
