General Education Courses (15 Credits)
To complete the CNC Machinist, AAS degree, students are required to successfully complete fifteen credits of General Education coursework. This coursework must be selected from at least three of the MnTC Goal Areas. A minimum of three credits must be completed from Goal Area 1 and three credits from Goal Areas 7, 8, 9 or 10.
*MTTC 1030 and WELD 1105 are two credit courses. Students who opt to take either of these as their program elective will need to take an additional credit to complete the required 60 credits for the award. MTTC 1030 is not offered every year.
Former Diploma Students:
Students who have already completed all requirements for the Machine Tool Technology diploma must take six additional credits of MnTC coursework to complete the Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in CNC Machinist (Machine Tool), for a total of 15 MnTC credits. The AAS also requires that MnTC coursework must be taken from at least three different Goal Areas. Diploma graduates will have already completed 9 MnTC credits from at least two Goal Areas, and may or may not have already completed three Goal Areas.
All students pursuing this award should work closely with their advisor to ensure proper selection of required program courses, if applicable program electives, required Minnesota Transfer Curriculum courses, and MnTC electives. You are expected to meet with your advisor on a regular basis to ensure courses are taken in an order that will lead to efficient and successful completion of the required coursework.
