Description:
The Law Enforcement Transfer Pathway A.S. offers students a powerful option: the opportunity to complete an Associate of Science degree with course credits that directly transfer to designated Law Enforcement bachelor’s degree programs at Minnesota State universities*. The curriculum has been specifically designed so that students completing this pathway degree and transferring to one of the seven Minnesota State universities enter the university with junior-year status. All courses in the Transfer Pathway associate degree will directly transfer and apply to the designated bachelor’s degree programs in a related field.
The Law Enforcement Transfer Pathway A.S. helps make communities safer with an A.S. degree from Minneapolis College’s Law Enforcement program, which is accredited by accredited by the Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). You will get professional preparation includes academics and skills training. Experienced faculty will give you hands-on training using realistic simulations as you prepare for peace officer licensing.
*This transfer pathway in Associate of Science in Law Enforcement will transfer to the following majors:

To enroll in the fourth semester (Professional Licensing program), students must have completed with a minimum “C” (2.0) grade in each course and an overall 2.50 GPA in the following introductory courses: ENGL 1110, ENGL 1111, LAWE 1215, LAWE 1220, PSYC 1100, PSYC 1110 or PSYC 2260, SOCI 1105, SOCI 2115, SOCI 2145, and SOCI 2155.
*To enroll in the advanced courses, students must also be admitted to the Professional Licensing program at Hennepin Technical College’s Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Education Center. See the Minneapolis College Law Enforcement website and/or call the center at 763-657-3704 for additional information. Completion of the 22 credits at Hennepin Technical College require a minimum of two semesters.
Upon successful completion of all Law Enforcement Advanced Technical Certificate courses at Hennepin Technical College, your credits will be transferred back to Minneapolis College to satisfy the professional licensing requirements for the A.S. degree.
General Education Credits (34 Credits):
To complete the Law Enforcement Transfer Pathway A.S. degree, students are required to complete 34 credits of General Education coursework. Twenty-five of those credits are specified in the program requirements. The remaining nine credits may be selected from any of the MnTC Goal Areas.
All students pursuing this award should work closely with their advisor to ensure proper selection of required program courses, if applicable program electives, required Minnesota Transfer Curriculum courses, and MnTC electives. You are expected to meet with your advisor on a regular basis to ensure courses are taken in an order that will lead to efficient and successful completion of the required coursework.
