Voice: 60 Minute Lesson (MUSC 2502)

Description: This course consists of a series of private lessons given on your chosen instrument, 60 minutes per week. You will develop skills in performing and creating on your instrument, in lessons that are individualized based on your skill level. You will enhance your musicianship as well as your technical skills. Students may not enroll in two different levels of the same instrument in the same semester. As an example, student may not enroll in MUSC 2503: Piano and MUSC 2504: Piano during the same semester.

1. 1. Increase technical skill on the chosen instrument (or voice), developing tone quality, breath control or coordination where relevant, range of pitch and dynamics, and facility in note production
2. 2. Develop the sense of musicality, note and phrase shaping; as well as sensitivity to and interpretation of form and aesthetic meaning in musical expression
3. 3. Encounter the literature of the instrument, as listener and performer
4. 4. Develop their ability to both sensitively interpret music and express themselves musically
5. 5. Develop musicality in note and phrase shaping

Prerequisites: 

Students must provide their own instrument, with the exception of a piano.
