Mass Communication (CMST 1015)

Description: This course will examine ways in which new forms of digital communication (social networking, mobile devices, email, blogs, etc.) affect contemporary culture. You will investigate the changing media landscape. You will also look in depth at the "old," traditional mass media that use print, broadcast, sound, and filmic ways of producing and conveying messages to audiences, and critically evaluate their role in this new, digital environment.

Prerequisites: 

Placement score into ENGL 1110 or completion of ENGL 0900 or ENGA 0900 and ENGA 1110 or ESOL 0051.
