Topics covered in the course include igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. Special attention is paid to the dramatic role of volcanoes, earthquakes, erosion and landslides in the shaping of our planet. Field trips are an optional part of the course. This course has an optional lab (GEOL 1130). Completion of both GEOL 1120 and GEOL 1130 are required to count toward MnTC Goal Area 3.
