Description: This course will examine key components of regulations, standards, and policies that ensure physical and psychological health, safety, and nutrition for both children and staff in early-childhood settings. You will integrate these concepts into planning, evaluating, and implementing environments and curriculum that emphasize these basic concepts, recognizing the importance of collaboration with families and health professionals. Must be taken A-F.

2. 2. Identify healthy policies and procedures
3. 3. Describe signs of child abuse and neglect and reporting process for child abuse and neglect
4. 4. Plan activities designed to teach children about health, safety, and nutrition
5. 5. Identify required elements of documenting a child’s injuries
6. 6. Identify key elements of a developmentally appropriate nutrition program

Prerequisites: 

Placement score into READ 0200 or ESOL 0052 or completion of READ 0100 or ESOL 0042 and faculty recommendation into ESOL 0052.
